PICK YOUR OWN THIS WEEKEND
David has decided we are going to run a pick your own plums this weekend,
Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Tractor and trailer rides to the
orchards will commence at 12pm and run until 4pm. There will be three
different sizes of punnets available in the following varieties: Victoria,
Yellow Egg, Majorie Seedling and Bell.
The costs have been calculated as follows:
500g - £1
3kg Chip - £4
5kg Blue tray - £5
Refreshments will be available to purchase in the form of:
Tea,
Coffee
Cold Drinks and
Sue's home-made cakes!
We hope you can bring the family along if the weather holds.....I am
afraid we couldn't give any more notice this year - if the harvest hadn't
been finished it wouldn't have
happened!
NEW LINES - WOODLANDS FARM YOGURT
We are stocking Woodlands Farm Yogurt this week. This is made by local
dairy farmers from Cheltenham. The product is totally handmade, and to
ensure maximum freshness the cows are milked in the morning and the yogurt
produced on site the very same day.
The yogurts come in the following sizes, 150ml and 560 ml, making them
slightly bigger than the Dairy House and they retail slightly cheaper. In
terms of taste they are probably not as sweet as the Dairy House yogurts
which some customers may prefere?
The family approached us, and we are prepared to give any local supplier
an opportunity to sell their produce through our shop - it is now up to our
customers to decide if it is worth stocking........

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - THANK YOU SUE - I HAVE HAD THIS RECIPE A LONG TIME,
BUT HAVE ONLY JUST FOUND
WHEN TIDYING UP!
PORK & PEANUT NOODLES
300g noodles
500g pack of pork mince
250g frozen peas
3 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1 Harvington red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
2 tsp soft, light brown sugar
1 tsbp soy sauce
METHOD
1. Place the noodles in a large bowl and cover with boiling water, leave
to soak for 5 mins, then drain. heat a wok or large frying pan, then cook
the pork mince over a high heat for 10 mins, or until the juices have
evaporated and the pork is starting to look crisp. Throw in the peas and
fry together for 2 mins.
2. Meanwhile whisk together the peanut butter, chilli, brown sugar and soy
sauce in a bowl and loosen with 2 tbsp warm water. Add the noodles and
peanut sauce to the pan, toss everything well, then fry for 1 minute,
stirring until warmed through. Sprinkle over the coriander and serve in
bowls.
I think that covers everything for this week - enjoy the Bank Holiday
weekend!
Kind regards
Sara
